IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SHIPPING KILNS OVER 100 lbs. Please read all info carefully! Others may not give you this info and you will end up paying for it at delivery!
Many of the kilns (that weigh over 100 LBS) on our website require delivery via freight carrier (18-wheeler).
We must know if this kiln is being delivered to a business or a residence. Because an 18-wheeler cannot maneuver in many neighborhoods - trucking companies must load your kiln onto a truck that will work in your area AND if you can not lift the kiln off yourself, the trucking companies will need to have a truck with lift gate ability.

IF YOU SEE THIS YELLOW TAG: READ SHIPPING OPTIONS CAREFULLY- IN MOST CASES- FREE SHIPPING APPLIES TO STANDARD BUSINESS DELVERIES ONLY. A business address delivery is one that has front doors open to the public during regular business hours. A business in a home or home studio is not deemed a business address.
Free shipping covers destination rates to BUSINESS ADDRESSES only, not driver services. Delivery Point is the Curb! Driver will not unload the kiln. If you do not have a fork lift, Please be sure to pay for "Lift Gate Service" at the time of kiln purchase. You will be contacted by phone with approximate delivery time from the freight company

Residential Addresses
|
In MOST cases- Residential Deliveries will need to pay a residential delivery charge at the time of kiln purchase. Free shipping does not include shipments to HI, AK or US territories.
IMPORTANT : Shipments to residences usually require a lift gate, as most houses do not have high docks. You must request the lift gate when you order the kiln so that this can be noted on the bill of lading. If it is not noted on the bill of lading and you need the lift gate, there will be a redelivery charge.
Will you need help unloading the kiln upon delivery? Package handling companies off-load and uncrate for a fee. Otherwise make sure you have enough people to help unload the kiln. Or ask for an inside delivery when placing your order.

Delivery Point is the Curb
|
Most trucking companies will deliver a crate only to the curb. It is the customer’s responsibility to move the crate into the house or garage. Most companies offer inside delivery for an extra charge. With a little kindness and monetary appreciation, the driver may place the crate closer to the house or garage. |

Difficult to Access Locations
|
Do you live where a large tractor trailer would have difficulty maneuvering? Examples: a gravel driveway, narrow streets, dead-end streets. Notifying the trucking company of this in advance will prevent extra costs and headaches.
There are several options for a delivery to a difficult location: 1) Meet the tractor trailer at the end of the street. 2) Pick up the kiln yourself at the freight terminal, which will also save you the residential delivery fee. 3) At the time of order, specify that you will need a small box truck for delivery.
If your kiln/wheel is being shipped to a business within the Continental US, generally speaking it will be covered with free shipping. However, there are addresses (typically addresses "out in the middle of nowhere", or in major cities such as NYC, or on islands) that are billed by our shippers at a much higher rate. These will not totally be covered by free shipping but a credit toward the final shipping bill will be given. You will be notified if this concerns your shipment. You will be responsible for any extra shipping charges above a certain level for each kiln.

Loss and Liability
|
Mud In Mind and it's suppliers takes great care to pack your merchandise well so it will arrive in good condition. We even receive a signed bill of lading from the freight company that they accepted your order from us in good condition. The next step is up to you. It is your responsibility to inspect the order to be sure it is in sound condition upon receipt. Below are listed several shipping and receiving standards for you to use to insure proper service. |
| |
1. You should thoroughly inspect your shipment upon arrival. Verify the number of cartons and inspect them for damage. If any shortage or damage is evident, notify the freight company at once, and request that they make note of it. The freight company will not entertain any claim for loss or damage unless they first inspect the shipment. This notice of damage or loss, together with a copy of your invoice, the original bill of lading, and your paid freight bill will properly support your claim. By signing the freight bill, you are accepting the shipment and releasing the trucking company from further obligation. Failure to note damage or shortage on freight bills may forfeit your claim with the trucking company.
2. If the shipment has the appearance that the contents inside may be damaged please insist that the package be opened in the presence of the driver. Any concealed damage should be noted immediately.
3. Public Carrier Trucks are responsible for "tailgate deliveries" meaning that the driver is obligated only to bring the shipment to the end of the truck. At this point it is the responsibility of the consignee to unload it. If you require assistance with unloading please make prior arrangements. Lift gate, hand unload, inside delivery and residential delivery are often available for an additional price. Tell us your special requirements at the time you place your order and we will either forward your requests to the freight company or provide you with their contact information so that you can make these arrangements to your satisfaction. We recommend you make the contact so that you are certain your requests have been granted.
4. Freight collect payments are to be made at the time of delivery unless you have an established account with the carrier. Any overage on freight prepaid shipments are the customers responsibility and will be billed accordingly. |
