Olympic's glass fusing kilns have both lid and body elements. Elements in the firing chamber are used to evenly heat the glass piece and the lid element is used when fusing temperature is reached. Glass fusing kilns have a maximum temperature of 1700° F and generally are not as deep as pottery kilns because typically glasswork is done on one layer of shelving. Each of Olympic’s glass kilns comes standard with the Bartlett 3K digital controller in order to provide you with more accurate control during your firing.  The RTC 1000 controller may be added for an additional cost in order to allow you to store 2 additional programs for firing.  Each kiln comes with the stand shown, instruction manual, and warranty card.  Options include Quartz Porthole, a Punty (Bead) Door, and Shelf Kit.  The Olympic 146GFE SQUARE is one of a unique line of kilns from Olympic. Intended for use with glass, this kiln is suitable for copper enameling, glass fusing & slumping and PMC work. The 146GFE SQUARE runs on 120 volts (household current), comes equipped with a 3 Key Controller or an optional 12-Key Bartlett RTC1000 electronic controller, that is designed specifically for firing glass. A glass quartz porthole may be added for viewing glass within the kiln during firing. A Punty (Bead) door can also be added to assist with annealing glass beads. Elements in the lid and sidewalls provide accurate, even heating throughout the kiln and enhanced control during slumping and fusing-- the electronic controller allows you to get accurate results time after time. *This kiln comes equipped with a Nema 5-20 plug that may require you to change the wall receptacle.
