The Viking-28 is a 10-sided 3” wall digital kiln specifically designed for extra heavy-duty firing and high temperatures. It features sectional construction. Separate the kiln bottom and section to repair bricks, change elements, or to move the kiln down narrow stairwells or through the narrowest doorways. Twist-lock spring latches hold the assembled collars securely.
All Vikings are digital and feature the Sentry 12-key controller, easy access switch box, ½ amp internal fuse, and LiteLid. In addition, they use heavy-duty mercury relays which outlast the standard mechanical contactor relays by a wide margin. The Vikings have power to spare. They are 14,400 watt kilns and fire on a 70 amp, 240 volt circuit. Built in UL/CUL compliant high amperage fuses protect the kiln and circuit wiring.
Exclusive LiteLid Spring Counter-Balance
The massive lid is easy to lift with the exclusive, patented Paragon counter-balance LiteLid. The LiteLid reduces the strain on the kiln body-- lengthening the life of the firebricks while eliminating cumbersome pulleys and ropes.
Kiln Stand with Extra Support
The 24” wide stand for Viking kilns supports the brick bottom with framing that is 4 ½” wide across the top of each side. The stand accommodates the Orton KilnVent. The stand is rock-steady, with 16 gauge frame and heavy 12 gauge legs.
If you move your kiln out of the way when not in use, order an optional deluxe kiln stand with steel casters.
The Sentry digital controller is manufactured by Orton Ceramic Foundation. It is unsurpassed in reliability for a controller in its price range. It includes a programmed cool-down, Cone-Fire and Ramp-Hold modes, and is capable of accepting types K, R, or S thermocouples. A type-K thermocouple comes standard.
For your peace of mind, the Viking-28 includes a switch that shuts off power to the controller when not in use.
