Paragon has just introduced a glass kiln called the Pearl-18. The name comes from the “clamshell” tilt-top design. The top lifts away to give access to the shelf area. Air pistons assist in lifting the top.
The Pearl-18 heating elements are mounted in the lid using a new element groove that eliminates element pins. The element coils are wider than the groove opening, so the elements stay in place without pins. In addition, a special ceramic fiber paper covers the firebrick element grooves. It is designed to eliminate brick dust inside the kiln.
The Paragon Pearl-18 is rated to 2000°F. The interior is 18” wide, 18” deep and 8 ½” high. It fires on a 20 amp, 240 volt circuit. Electrical components are mounted inside the base of the kiln.
